SONETRule

is an engineering tool for managing bandwidth allocations on networks having multiple protected ring networks.

With SONETRule, you will be able to identify in seconds if there is available bandwidth for another VT1.5, and where it can be placed. It will find the optimal path for the circuit based on the standard SONET/SDH allocation algorithms. It will find paths across rings. You can then accept or reject the offered path. If there is bandwidth, but a STS doesn't exist, you can opt to have SONETRule make one from an available channel. You can view reports with the circuit hops shown in sequence. You can also view it on your network diagram on a geographical map.

SONETRule is the tool for keeping an accurate, readily accessible inventory of allocations on your SONET rings. It includes Linear Systems (LSs), Unidirectional Protected Switched Rings (UPSRs), and 2 or 4 fiber Bidirectional Protected Switched Rings (BLSRs).

  • SONETRule is designed to readily accept your network data and edits.
  • You can also track which customers are using which circuits.
  • You can easily snapshot your rings and try out different future allocations. You might try out a total reassignment to clean up allocations.

With powerful options to select and sort the SONET data, you'll find managing your circuits with SONETRule to be a quick and simple process.
